Referring to the Ministry of Environment and Forestry’s regulation regarding the management of specific waste (e-waste or electronic waste) in Government Regulation No. 27 of 2020, the government divides this into two categories: reduction and handling. The specific waste or electronic waste reduction program is implemented through several methods: limiting specific waste generation, recycling specific waste, and reusing specific waste. Meanwhile, handling involves sorting, collecting, transporting, processing, and final processing.
Electronic waste or e-waste has the potential to be reused or even resold. With current technological advances, the materials contained in used electronic devices can be recovered. In practice, PT Torishima Guna Indonesia (TGI) has provided drop boxes/e-waste boxes for the collection of used electronic devices, such as cellphones, CDs, batteries, power banks, etc. These used electronic devices will then be recycled by TGI in collaboration with partners.
By implementing this e-waste box, TGI hopes to participate in collaborating in implementing the recycling program by not throwing away electronic waste carelessly but sending it to the trash can or drop box that has been provided.
